North Squad

QB Warmp-up

  • No drops, no sailed throws.
  • Someone who has impressed me all week and haven’t mentioned yet is Michael Hoomanawanui, TE, Illinois. The guy is a big physical blocking TE/FB But he has pretty soft hands.

RB Pass Routes

  • Joique Bell, RB Wayne State, missed the catch, also didn’t stay inside the cones or locate the ball at all.
  • LaGarrett Blount, RB Oregon, looked pretty fluid at 245 lbs catching the ball.
  • Rashawn Jackson, FB Virginia, really looks like a fullback in the passing tree.

Half Line Drill

  • Brandon Graham, DE/OLB Michigan, is un-blockable still.
  • Mike Iupati, OG/OT Idaho, completely dominates in the run. He threw his man from his left guard spot to outside the pocket on the right side, and only stopped because the whistle blew.
  • Matt Tennant, C/OG Boston College, showed great awareness and quickness by making the snap and then getting all the way outside the left tackle to pick up a blitzing linebacker.

WR/DB 1-1

  • Taylor Price, WR Ohio, just dropped a pass
  • Jacoby Ford, WR Celmson, is improving his routes.
  • Syd’Quan Thompson, CB Cal, just got beat again by Dorin Dickerson, TE Pitt, on a fly route after press coverage. Also Dan LeFevour, QB Central Michigan, dropped that ball in perfectly about 45 yards down field and on the sidelines.
  • Mardy Gilyard, WR Cincinnati, is impressing me with his hand punch for such a small framed guy.
  • Danario Alexander, WR Mizzou, runs pretty solid running routes at 6’5 that could be a nice possession guy.
  • Ford finally looked fast. He just abused Kyle Wilson, CB Boise State, on a go route. And LeFevour with another perfect deep ball.

1 on 1 pass rush

  • Mike Iupati (inside) is dominate.
  • Nice Job by Sean Lauvao, OG ASU, and Sam Young, OT Notre Dame, on a twist stunt by the defense.
  • Jeremy Odrick, DT/DE PSU, again shows great moves on the inside.
  • Ed Wang, OT VT, finally slowed down Brandon Graham. And the next play Ipuati absolutely ate Graham on a stunt.
  • Iupati lined up at right tackle: He struggles a little in space. I don’t think he is comfortable on an island yet.

7-7

  • Terrell Skinner, S Maryland, made a great read on a dump down to Bell, and delivered a big pop. And When Bell finished off the play and ran down the end zone he looks pretty fast.
  • Sean Canfield, QB Oregon State, made a nice 15 yard out to Taylor Price. That is a throw that pros have to make. Ask Graham Harrell.
  • LeFevour dropped in a perfect deep ball on a TE Seam route. But Garrett Graham, TE Wisconson, got alligator arms after seeing a safety.

FULL TEAM.

  • LaGarrett Blount fumbled.
  • Cam Thomas, DT UNC, is a beast in the run game.
  • Vladimir Ducasse, OT UMASS, really does look like a talent. He has great push in the running game.
  • Odrick used his inside moves to blow up a draw.
  • Iupati jumped, but he was encroached by the defense. Tony Pike, QB Cincinnati, has a solid hard count.
  • Jacoby Ford caught a crossing route and ran away from the defenders after the catch.
  • The offense has had all sorts of success on the roll out.
  • Donald Butler, LB Washington, with a great play on a draw. Offense set it up perfectly, got the entire line fanned outside, but Butler got his nose in there.
  • Odrick again, great inside moves.
  • Iupati is lined up outside now at right tackle, and he looked better.
  • Lagarrett Blount has nice hands for his size.
  • Syd’Quan Thompson looks like a different player in team drills. That safety help must make him more comfortable.
